2020 Collection 2020 Events The Covid-19 pandemic starts in the Wuhan Province in China and by 23rd March the UK is in lockdown - shops and recreation facilities shut and travel allowed only for essential work purposes -it seems the move to on-line shopping and working from home has been brought forward by 5-10 years. A thin Brexit deal (tariff free goods) is agreed at the 11th hour
2019 Collection 2019 Events In Paris, the spire and roof of Notre-Dame is destroyed by fire but firefighters save the main gothic structure. In September, Greta Thunberg delivers a 'Wake UP' call in her address to the UN conference on Climate Change and Brexit is postponed three times during the year.
2018 Collection 2018 Events Pomp and Ceremony again in UK as Prince Harry weds Meghan Markle. Whilst in the US, Trump manages to trigger a trade war with China, rebut the UN climate Assessment Report and pull the USA out of the Iran Nuclear deal - unbelievable!
2017 Collection 2017 Events Donald Trump is inaugurated as the 45th US President and (as a portent of his future presidency?) fire engulfs the Grenfell Tower killing 72 people during the early hours of what is in fact his 71st birthday (and my 72nd) on 14th June! The three M's take the lead in Europe: May, Merkel and Macron. We celebrate Bridget's 70th birthday in Sydney Australia - travelling Northwards to stay in Airlie Beach and spend a night on the Coral Reef.
2016 Collection 2016 Events The referendum on Brexit (Britains exit from the EU) delivers a NO vote (17M to 16M votes). The Olympics are held in Rio de Janeiro and GB is victoRIOus, bringing home 67 medals. We holiday in Cuba (Feb) and South Africa (Apr).
2015 Collection 2015 Events France is in the Islamic terrorist spotlight (Charlie Hebdo attack in January and Bataclan nightclub attack in November), but on the positive side:195 countries finally signed the Paris Climate Accord to combat global warming. Stuart celebrated his 3 score years and 10, and eldest grandchild Sam started at the University of Birmingam studying Business and Economics but resigned at the end of the first term!).
2014 Collection 2014 Events London held centre stage this year; firstly the centenary of WW I which was comemorated by a sea of poppies at the Tower of London - over 800,000 of them, and secondly for Dan's treatment at the Royal London Hospital (and subsequent miraculous recovery) following a fall at Embankment tube station which required emergency brain surgery.
